I’ve been playing with the idea of starting a food blog for a couple years now, but a few things deterred me. There are so many amazing food blogs already out there, and the more time I spend on FoodGawker and TasteSpotting (which is a lot), the more I find. I’m pretty sure that no matter what I come up with, someone will have already done it, and done it better.
I’m also a bit attention-deficit-disorder when it comes to projects. I’ve started countless hobbies, and either I slowly lose interest, or I find something else to dive head first (and heart first!) into that takes up all my time. Occasionally I’ll come back to an old pastime for an afternoon or two and enjoy it, but I tend to avoid activities that require long-term commitments.
Having said that, I have spent the last year and four months doing yoga almost every single day, so maybe I’m maturing a little to be able to stick with things (yes, I know that in the grand scheme of things, that’s not that long. But, almost every day. That’s gotta count for something). And last year, on a whim, I bought a beautiful Canon digital SLR camera (I’ll spend months debating whether or not I should spend a hundred dollars on something, but have been known to drop almost a thousand on spur of the moment ideas).
So I’ve convinced myself I can stick with this, and taken photography lessons. I’ve saved up a collection of recipes I want to document, and promised myself I’m doing this for me, and it doesn’t matter if anyone else reads this, or how it compares to other blogs out there. I’ve taken note that I eat three (okay, more like six) times a day, so gathering things to write about once or twice or a few times a week should be doable.
And so, for better or for worse, here it is: a collection of my adventures, with a slant toward food: baking, cooking, eating out or just making a general mess in the kitchen. Let’s share, laugh, indulge, play, reflect, inspire, learn and love.
