A year from now, I am going to stand among my best friends in a white dress. I’m going to face the kindest, most generous, and most loving human I’ve ever met, and say a bunch of things that will never adequately encompass all the feelings I have towards him.
Chris, I can’t wait to marry you.
But, more importantly, I can’t wait to laugh with you, cry with you, and dream with you. I’m looking forward to arguing over what to name our kids, and fighting over how much Spiderman-themed décor we have in our house. I’m looking forward to laughing at all your terrible jokes, keeping your secrets, and baking you every apple recipe I can find (if my mother doesn’t beat me to it).
I hope we never live too close to the school, because my favourite part of every day is talking in the car while we drive home together. I hope we stay brave enough to have the hard conversations. I hope we continue to travel to places without cell phone service, and that we listen without the sole intention to respond.
Let’s find a meadow somewhere with the mountains in the background. Let’s gather our favourite people and our favourite foods and let’s party our hearts out.
Let’s spend this weird and wonderful and messy and fascinating and ordinary life together.
I love you.
